David was appointed managing director of Ninety One Investment Platform in October 2009. Prior to this David was the head of operations at Ninety One with responsibility for operations, vendor management, IT and risk. Before assuming this role in January 2004, David served as the head of product in the Personal Investments area.

Prior to Ninety One, David worked at Fedsure Unit Trusts from 1999, finishing as the managing director. From 1995 to 1998 he was at Norwich Unit Trusts, initially as the financial manager and finally assistant general manager of operations. Before joining Norwich, David was at Liberty Life from 1993 as audit manager. He completed his articles at Ernst & Young in 1992.

David is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting from the University of Cape Town as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting.
