Ninety One, a global, active investment manager with $244.2 billion in assets under management (as at 06.30.26) and a distinctive heritage in emerging markets and international investing, has today announced the appointment of Therese Hernandez as Head of Institutional for the Midwest and Strategic Relationships in the US, as the firm continues to build the depth and breadth of its North American business.
Based in Chicago, Hernandez will be responsible for developing and deepening relationships with institutional investors and consultants across the Midwest, alongside a broader remit for strategic relationships across the US. Her appointment comes as Ninety One continues to see growing institutional demand for active, specialist strategies that can navigate an increasingly multipolar world - from emerging market equity and debt to global and international equity mandates.
Hernandez brings more than three decades of experience working with institutional investors, including 25 years at MacKay Shields. Most recently, she was Managing Director and Head of Public Funds at New York Life Investments, where she led marketing and sales efforts with institutional investors and consulting firms across the US, spanning private equity, private credit and fixed income strategies.
Over the course of her career, Hernandez has developed extensive relationships with investment teams, trustees and consultants across the US. Prior to MacKay Shields, she held institutional roles at MFS Institutional Management, Norwest/Wells Fargo and Northern Trust.
Sangeeth Sewnath, Head of the Americas and Global Head of Client Group: "Therese has spent her career building trusted, long-standing relationships with institutional investors and consultants across the US. That depth of experience, and her understanding of sophisticated institutional clients, will be invaluable as we continue to deepen our presence in North America. Institutional investors are increasingly turning to specialists like Ninety One for differentiated exposure to emerging and international markets, and Therese strengthens our ability to bring that expertise to the Midwest and beyond."
