Ninety One today announced the appointment of Jeff Shields as Head of Institutional, West Coast. Based in San Francisco, he will oversee all aspects of the firm’s engagements with institutional asset owners in the region. As a member of the North America Client Group’s leadership team, Shields will work in close partnership with colleagues to deepen client and investment consultant relationships and drive new growth opportunities.
With over 25 years’ experience, Shields joins Ninety One from J.P. Morgan Asset Management where he led business development across a broad range of institutional clients, including public pensions, sovereign wealth funds, healthcare organizations, foundations, endowments and family offices. Most recently, he was part of the firm’s Public Funds team, covering clients across the West Coast and leading work on portfolio construction and investment strategies for public pensions, particularly in integrating liabilities into investment frameworks (Liability Aware Investing). Shields holds a B.A in Government & Politics from the University of Maryland.
