Alastair is an infrastructure specialist within the Emerging Market Alternative Credit team at Ninety One, where his primary focus is unlisted and privately negotiated lending transactions. Within his role, Alastair is responsible for the investments of the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund, a development fund that provides debt to critical, private sector developed infrastructure projects in Africa. Alastair is also responsible for developing and managing the South African infrastructure credit fund within the Emerging Markets Alternative Credit strategies.
Prior to transferring to Ninety One in 2014, Alastair spent six years working at Investec Bank in Johannesburg originating, structuring and executing lending transactions for power and infrastructure transactions. Before that, he worked at Amey Ventures for three years as a commercial manager and bid manager. He worked as a developer, lender and investor in infrastructure assets predominantly using project finance and also balance sheet funding.
Alastair graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and completed an MBA at Imperial College in London in 2004.
